The Atelier
Made by hand, one piece at a time.
Elbra is the furniture house of a family that has been making for a living far longer than it has carried its own name. Every piece is drawn, built and finished by hand in Portugal — made to order, never drawn from stock.
Our Heritage
A family that has always made things.
Before Elbra, our roots were firmly in furniture manufacturing. For over twenty-five years, our family-owned factories in Portugal produced high-quality upholstery and bespoke furniture for renowned international brands and designers.
That work asked for precision, patience and a deep knowledge of materials — the kind of craft that is learned at the bench over decades, not acquired quickly. It is the foundation everything here is built on.
Elbra is the next step: the family’s own brand, drawing on that long apprenticeship to make pieces under our own name — the same hands, now working entirely for you.

The Craft
Four disciplines, one piece.
Everything is handmade in Portugal, made to order — traditional European craftsmanship working alongside contemporary design and modern technique. One commission at a time.
Design & drawing
Each piece begins on paper. Proportions, joinery and detail are resolved in drawing long before a single board is cut, so the finished object answers precisely to its purpose.
Woodwork & joinery
Solid woods are cut, shaped and joined by hand. The frame is the architecture of a piece — built to hold its line for decades, not seasons.
Upholstery
Frames are filled, tailored and covered by hand in leather, linen, bouclé or velvet — the discipline our family practised for renowned brands across twenty-five years.
Hand-finishing
Surfaces are sanded, finished and brought to tone by hand. Nothing leaves the atelier until it has been looked over, touched and judged ready.

The materials are natural and honest — solid woods, natural stone, leathers and natural fibres, and metals. They are chosen to be worked by hand and to age with grace, gaining character rather than wearing out.
Made to Order
Nothing built in advance.
Because each piece is made to order, the atelier builds only what has been commissioned — measured, joined and finished for one room and one client. Most commissions are ready in around ninety days, with the exact lead time confirmed before work begins. What you own is not stock, but something made the day you asked for it.
From the Bench to Your Room
Commission something made for you.
Begin with a signature design or a concept of your own. We will draw it, make it by hand in Portugal and deliver it ready to live with.
